Assignment #6-2 Steve Jobs’ Talk

Steve Jobs’ talk

5 good words/sentences I learn
drop out  輟學
unwed (adj.) 未婚的
 relent (v.) 減輕
naively(adv.) 天真地
stumbled(v.) 跌倒

Today, I read a speech which is delivered by Steve Jobs.He told us three stories of his life.

The first story is  about connecting the dots.
He told us the connection of his dropout and the first Macintosh computer. If he made a another decision, there would  never have multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts in Mac.
We can’t connect the dots looking forward; we can only connect them looking backward. So we have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. And it may make some difference in our lifes.

The second story is about love and loss.
He found what he loves to do and sticked to it no matter how hard the road is.
We’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.Although I'm still a student, I have to find what I'm interested in and what I want to do.I believe that passion is power. With my full heart, things will be better.

The last story is about death.
It's a experience about  the cancer almost take his life.
Before I read this speech I have never thought anything about "death".I'm only 19 years old!But life is uncertain, we can not expect what will happen in next day, next hour, even next second. We have to try to live everyday as if it is the full final day of my extraordinary ordinary life. And do our best to relish this remarkable ride.

Lyric:

Sweet love, sweet love
Trapped in your love
I've opened up, unsure I can trust
My heart and I were buried in dust
Free me, free us
You're all I need when I'm holding you tight
If you walk away I will suffer tonight
I found a man I can trust
And boy, I believe in us
I am terrified to love for the first time
Can you see that I'm bound in chains
I finally found my way
I am bound to you
I am bound to you
So much, so young
I've faced on my own
Walls I built up became my home
I'm strong and I'm sure there's a fire in us
Sweet love, so pure
I catch my breath with just one beating heart
And I brace myself, please don't tear this apart
I found a man I can trust
And boy, I believe in us
I am terrified to love for the first time
Can't you see that I'm bound in chains
I finally found my way
I am bound to you
I am bound to
Suddenly the moment's here
I embrace my fears
All that I have been carrying all these years
Do I risk it all
Come this far just to fall, fall
Oh, I can trust
And boy, I believe in us
I am terrified to love for the first time
Can you see that I'm bound in chains
And finally found my way
I am bound to you
I am,
Ooh, I am
I'm bound to you

Assignment #4 6 Minute English---What's in a fairy tale?

Recently, Hollywood has produced a number of remake movie which is based on traditional fairy tales for the adult market. In some stories, the version of the original and latest are pretty different. For example, we don't call seven dwarves Sneezy, Dopey or Happy because it's to childish for teens or adults. Furthermore, it's surprising that in "The Frog Prince" the princess doesn't kiss the frog instead of throwing it against the wall! If I know more truths of the fairy tales maybe my childhood will be broken.

Assignment #3 ESLPod.Com

Last week, we learn about a website called--"ESLPod.Com" which can help us train our listening ability.
After I listening to the conversation, I think that maybe the first time conversation can be a little faster so that it would not make people feel sleepy. In addition, I really like the explanation part, it did give me a hand on understanding the whole artical.
